Barcelona’s new all-time top goalscorer Messi to be honored ahead of Athletic Bilbao clash

Lionel Messi’s feat of becoming Barcelona’s all-
time top goalscorer is set to be honored in the
buildup to the Catalan club’s clash with Athletic
Bilbao at Camp Nou on Saturday.
The Argentina international broke the
longstanding record of 232 strikes for the
Blaugrana by scoring a hat-trick against
Granada earlier this month.
The previous holder of the landmark, Cesar
Rodriguez, played for the Spanish giants
between 1942 and 1955, and no player had
managed to surpass his achievement for more
than 50 years.
Barcelona is set to honor Messi with a tribute
before the match, but details are yet to be
revealed.
According to Sport, there will be combined
footage of both Rodriguez and the Argentine as a
mark of respect to the widow and granddaughter
of the former Barcelona player.
