Technology is growing more and more important in the Nigerian society, and although before we could be contempt with having just a regular cell-phone and a computer, nowadays we feel the need of being more connected to Internet and technology. Some other countries have already started moving towards a more modern technological era, so it’s now our turn. Here are a few to start with:
Smartphone – A smartphone is something absolutely necessary when it comes to technology these days. Its capacity to operate as both a phone and some types of PCs is helping many users thanks to its internet connection, which makes it a very useful object that always more people use to communicate and share data.
Tablet – nowadays tablets are substituting personal computers and laptops since they are easier to carry and hard drive space is no longer so essential thanks to cloud storage. In fact, in some countries like for example India, in which computer geeks and Internet experts flourish, locals are selling their personal computers on free classifieds online or repair shops in order to buy a high quality tablet that will last long and make work easier. In Nigeria we’re still not very open to sell our old computers in order to buy something better, but rather wait for the one we have to crash before we buy a new one. For those people who despise touch-screens there are portable keyboards you can connect to the tablet.
Laptop – A portable computer is too a real must have. It is a basic object when it comes to work, especially as a blogger or a freelance professional, but also when it comes to communicate with other people, inform yourself about pretty much anything or store important documents. Depending on weight, size, hard-drive and brand there are many different kinds according to every need, so you only have to find the one that suits you best!
Games Console – When it comes to the wide world of video games, a PlayStation or an Xbox are among the must have technology items of this 2014. This is also because they can do a lot more stuff than just allow you to play video games. You can use them also to listen to music, watch photos, films and TV. Xbox has also added the Kinect, a motion sensing input device which captures your every movements and responds to spoken commands as well.
TV – When it comes to relax on a couch or watch a film or an interesting show, a nice high-definition TV is what you want to have in your living room. The big screen is definitely not replaceable with any laptop or personal computer’s screen, since it will allow you to truly enjoy the images and have a cinema-like experience, comfortably sitting on your couch. Some TVs already have home-cinema speakers incorporated in the package to make you feel like you’re inside the movie.
Kindle – E-books are conquering the market, replacing traditional books thanks to the many advantages they offer. Besides costing less, they also weigh less and books can be easily stored and carried around on the same kindle. If you enjoy reading this is one of your must haves! In some countries it has also become a revolutionary device in education, since children are more willing to study carrying a kindle rather than tons of books that even end up hurting their back.
